Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Materials From Surface Initiated Polymerization
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 10 February 2011
Abstract
A new technique in surface modification is presented where chain growth polymerizations are initiated from tethered ruthenium alkylidene catalysts and organic-inorganic hybrid materials are produced. This approach provides nearly complete control over the polymer layer at the organic-inorganic interface with independent control over the chain length and grafting density. Hybrid particles are characterized using standard methods, i.e. NMR and transmission IR.
