Ion Implantation Distribution Study in Biological Samples
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 22 February 2011
Abstract
The organic materials of biological samples such as wheat, rice, corn and bean were implanted by nitrogen irons with energy ranging from 35–180 KeV. Biological effects including physiological and genetic variations on these crops were induced by ion implantation. In order to understand the role played by ion implantation, the distributions and the ranges of the implanted ions in biological samples were measured by RBS spectrometry. Theoretical calculations of the ranges were carried out using TRIM program. The results of experimental measurement were found essentially the same as the calculated values. The mechanism of the biological variations induced by ion beams is discussed.
