The vegetal remains, shells, and animal bones recovered from the site are, for the most part, evidence of the foods consumed here. They are arranged below by the phases and features in which they were found. Table 16 presents the associations with buildings, arranged according to position on floors, in subfloor pits, in postholes, or in fireplaces.

2 A similar circumstance was noted at the Sanders site near Red River, where the. only bison bones definitely assignable to the Sanders Focus were scapula hoe blades. These could have been obtained from neighboring tribes without the agricultural Sanders people actually hunting the bison themselves. On the site surface, along with artifacts from cultures later than Sanders, were numerous bison bones from different parts of the animal (Krieger, 1946, pp. 183, 201).
