Here Today, Gone Tomorrow: The Problems of Deteriorating Historic Centres

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to study one of the most regrettable problems associated with rapid urban growth – the deterioration and destruction of the fabric of the historic medina. It is also the aim, to highlight the importance of our architectural heritage and to suggest the need for a national cultural policy to conserve the urban heritage of the country. Three small towns from Libya were chosen as case studies.
