Electronic Sources of US Legal Information

Published online by Cambridge University Press:  31 July 2008

What follows is a listing of sites for finding American legal information, which formed the basis for a parallel session given by Roger Cook at the BIALL Conference in Cork earlier this year. All of the sites listed are ones which he has used and found of use in his time working for an American firm. Some of these sites will be of more use to commercial librarians than to academics, though he hopes that the reverse is true in other instances. All of these addresses worked as at the end of June this year, and it is hoped that it will still be valid by the time you read this.

Most of these sites contain very good sets of links, both to other Government sites and to other sources of legal information. It is by no means comprehensive, as a comprehensive list would require far more space than is available here, and would also become outdated far more quickly than this selective list. The important thing to remember is that the information is, usually, out there somewhere.
