The following course syllabus is published here for a variety of reasons: We are most anxious to encourage communication between Latin Americanisis in the U.S. and in Latin America and fully intend to encourage contributions of all kinds from scholars throughout the hemisphere; we consider this an interesting addendum to the note by Henry G. Kenski, published in X: 1, showing a Latin American perspective on the issues selected for study and the text material employed; and we include this syllabus in the category of methodology because it demonstrates how a Latin American approach to social science is influenced by U.S. models and yet contains important elements that are sui generis.
