page 8 note 1 I do not agree with Professor Marr's šeš-a = lignum, derived from *eš. It is better to derive še--a > Min. -Laz. di-šq-a, di-šk-a from the root Georg, š > Min. -Laz. šg > šk. We have indeed the Svanian word without the prefix Georg. še (*se > si) = Min. di= Sv. la: zeq = wood, lignum. Perhaps the root š > šq > šk = > š = to burn, thus še-š-a = di-ška = what is to be burned?
