1 A typical example of the author's mental cast is his description of the Vedic Ṛṣis on p. 302 f. His Sanskrit too is not above reproach, for he takes the dual dyāvā (extracted from the compound dyāvā-pṛthivī) as a singular, equivalent to dyāus.
