In February last, Captain F. de Laessoë, who is attached as one of the Political Officers with the Afghan Boundary Commission, discovered an important group of caves at Penjdeh, and sent me a plan of them, which is here given ; and with it the following letter, which contains an account of the discovery.
page 92 note 1 This plan, although bearing a resemblance to the one which appeared in the Proceedings of the Royal Geographical Society, is not a copy, but is reproduced from a drawing by Captain de Laessoë, made when he first discovered the caves in February last, as the date of the letter to Mr. Simpson shows.
