Metastatic small-cell lung carcinoma to the thyroid gland: a case report
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 17 May 2013
Abstract
Metastasis to the thyroid gland is a rare event.
We describe an unusual case of a 38-year-old woman with a history of small-cell lung cancer (SCLC), presenting with a new nodule in the thyroid gland, found to be metastatic SCLC, without evidence of widespread dissemination.
A new thyroid nodule should be carefully evaluated for metastasis in a patient with a history of prior malignancy.
