Abstract

In this paper, the electrostatic oscillations of a plasma having a Fermi distribution of energies are discussed. The electrons, assumed to be tightly bound to the magnetic lines of force, are acted upon by a linear restoring force which causes the electrons to oscillate with a fixed angular frequency ω0. The dependence of the frequencies of oscillation of the plasma on electron density is calculated in the two limiting cases ωp00 ≪ and ωp00 ≫ 1.
