Wisconsinella, a new raphistomatinid gastropod genus from the Middle Devonian of Wisconsin
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 02 September 2016
Abstract
A new raphistomatinid genus, Wisconsinella, from the Middle Devonian of Wisconsin is described. The type and only known species is Wisconsinella clelandi n. sp. from the Lake Church Formation of late Eifelian age. The new genus is characterized by its highly angular whorl profile and low gradate spire. It is distinguished from all other known raphistomatinid genera by the presence of a narrow, steeply inclined outer whorl surface, demarked both above and below by a sharp, strong angulation.
