Radio Aids to Navigation The Pioneer Days

There have been two distinct phases in the development of radio aids to navigation. The first, which must be regarded as the true pioneer period, followed rapidly upon the development of wireless telegraphy by Marconi and others; it was soon realized that the early aerials employed had directional properties and that this phenomenon could be used to obtain a bearing.
