On 26 November 1954 The Mathematical Practitioners of Tudor and Stuart England by E. G. R. Taylor was published for the Institute by Cambridge University Press. Dr. Derek Price, of the Whipple Museum of the History of Science at Cambridge, here describes the book for the Journal.

During the last twenty-five years there has been a revolution in writings on the history of science. Now, just as the profits are beginning to materialize, a second great change has occurred.
