On June 13th, 1750, Dr. Thomas Crow, Mr. William Prouting, and four other gentlemen met in a tavern in Exchange Alley, their object being to promote the establishment by subscription of a hospital as a further provision for poor lunatics. They drew up certain “considerations,” which were printed and distributed to the public.
