Clinical Contributions concerning Insanity with Rigidity of Muscles (catatonic) [Klinische Beiträge zur Katatonie]. (Allgem. Zeits. f. Psychiat.) Bd. lviii, H. 2 and 3, 1901.) Schüle

Published online by Cambridge University Press:  19 February 2018

Extract

The catatonic condition has as much individual existence as any other form of primary dementia; it is episodic in following other morbid psychical processes. The condition is said to be caused by a particular form of cortico-psychical inhibition, combined with a subcortical inhibition and excitation, particularly of the cortical centres.
