Abstract

Summary

Four cases are presented to illustrate that conservative laryngectomy is a simple and reliable treatment for severe aspiration in patients with motor neurone disease whose symptoms are predominantly bulbar. This treatment leads to a rapid return of the patients to their home, thus reducing their dependancy on skilled nursing care.
