Veronica Frisancho has been named winner of the 2024 Best Academic Project or Paper award in The Money Awareness & Inclusion Awards for her article "Spillover effects of financial education: The impact of school-based education programs on parents", published in Volume 1 Issue 1 of Journal of Financial Literacy and Wellbeing.
Looking at data on financial education in Peru, Veronica finds that empowering girls has a multiplier effect: Financial education in school improves the financial knowledge not only of students but also of parents, those with low socio-economic status. It is the daughters who are teaching their parents. Teach a girl and you will change the world!
