Claudia Goldin of Harvard University, former editor of The Journal of Economic History, has been awarded the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in recognition of her extraordinary contributions to the field. Claudia's research into the role of women in the labor market, gender differences and women's positions in the economic landscape have been foundational. She is the third woman to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences, and the first to receive it by herself rather than sharing it with a co-winner.
