On the Detection of Added Water in Milk

The various methods tested in this work have revealed the criteria of utility, U, shown in the following table for the detection of added water as measured by for the “difference” modes, and for the ratio modes by , where M3/M4 is the ratio of the maximum and minimum seasonal values of M. All the figures are for 10 per cent, added water. Utility values equal to and less than unity in the table are useless.
