Summary

An experiment to determine the effect of concentration of boron in irrigation water on tissue Ca/B ratio and yield of lentil, barley and oats is described and the results discussed. Tissue Ca/B ratio is a better index for detecting B toxicity in plants. The grain and straw yield of lentil and barley decreased on and beyond 3 and 6, and 6 and 8 mg B/1 in irrigation water, respectively, but there was no effect on green fodder yield of oats.
