The results of the Red Sindhi grading-up scheme in Malaysia

Summary

The upgrading programme of. the Local Indian Dairy cattle in Malaysia to the Red Sindhi over a period of 21 years is evaluated. Heterosis was not observed among the Fx cross-breds for milk yield and related traits. The attempt to upgrade local dairy cattle using Red Sindhi however resulted in deterioration of performance.
