3 The annal entries are quoted from A.U., unless otherwise stated.
4 In the annal for the year 715, the Ann. Tig. read ‘Dorbene, abb Iae’, probably a repetition of the earlier entry.
5 The genealogies in Bk Lec., 36 c 23 and 36 c 31, make it clear that Faelchú is not the son of the Dorbeni who died in 713.

7 A pedigree in the Genealogies of the Irish saints (Bk Lec., 36 a 41) derives the ancestry of a certain Dorbene Fota from Conall Gulban. It is one of a number of pedigrees, headed by those of Patrick and Brigit, but otherwise concerned with tracing the connections of the abbots of Iona, with some exceptions, from Colum Cille (died 597) to Sleibine (died 767), and, with a break of about one century, from Flann (died 891) to Dubtach (died 938). It should be remarked here that there is considerable agreement between the first section of these genealogies and a list of abbots of Iona in the Liber Confraternitatis Sancti Petri Salisburgensis, recently published by Grosjean, P., Anal. Bolland., lxxviii, 92 ff. (1960)Google Scholar. It too begins with Patrick and ends with Sleibine. The view that Dorbene Fota, descendant of Conall Gulban, is to be equated with Dorbene, abbot of Iona (died 713), is given further support by the A.F.M., for they apply the epithet fota to the latter.
