Recently, we have been informed that in the article by Ronald Johnston and Elaine McFarland, “ ‘Out in the Open in a Threatening World’: The Scottish Churches’ Industrial Mission 1960–1980”, published in IRSH, 55 (2010), pp. 1–27, a number of acknowledgments that should have been included in an initial footnote have been left out. The following text should be read as an initial footnote to the article:

“The research on which this article was based was made possible by an award (RES-000-22-2203) from the Economic and Social Research Council. The authors are also happy to acknowledge the important contribution made to the fieldwork by our research assistants, Dr Angela Bartie and Dr Sue Morrison, particularly through their work in interviewing respondents and in assisting with the associated witness seminar. We would, of course, particularly like to thank the retired chaplains, trade unionists, and managers who gave so generously of their time on this project.”
