On August 4, 1998, representatives of the Province of BC, the Nisga’ a Tribal Council and the Government of Canada initialed the Nisga'a Final Agreement in a ceremony in the Nass River Valley. The agreement must be ratified by all three parties to become a treaty. The official results of the vote by the Nisga'a Nation on the Treaty was released on November 13, 1998. The Treaty was accepted by 1,451 votes (61%).
