The vote on the Convention was 246 in favor and 14 against, with 152 abstentions; the vote on the Recommendation was 303 in favor and 4 against, with 111 abstentions. This Convention and Recommendation, adopted by the International Labour Conference at its 83rd Session, held June 4-20, 1996, in Geneva, is the first attempt to assist countries to improve their legislation and practices in the sector of home work. Approximately 95% of all homeworkers are women.
