* [UN Security Council Resolution 919 (1994) was adopted unanimously on May 25, 1994. Resolution 418 (1977) imposing the arms embargo and other restrictions appears at 16 I.L.M. 1547 (1977). UN General Assembly Resolution 48/258 on elimination of apartheid and the establishment of a united, democratic and non-racial South Africa, adopted on June 23, 1994, reinstates South Africa as a UN member and discontinues the mandate of the Committee of Trustees of the United Nations Trust Fund for South Africa. The text of Resolution 48/258 appears at 33 I.L.M. 1055 (1994).
[In June, 1994, South Africa formally become the 53rd member of the Organization of African Unity, the 51st member of the Commonwealth, and the 109th member of the Non-Aligned Movement.
