112th BiblioCon 2024

The annual Convention of German Librarians BiblioCon (Deutscher Bibliothekartag) is the largest convention for librarians and information professionals in Europe. The BiblioCon is jointly organized by VDB and BIB (Berufsverband Information Bibliothek). Some of the lectures will be delivered in English.

ASIL Abroad Inaugural Meeting

As roughly 40% of ASIL's membership is based outside the United States, ASIL Abroad was formed in 2022 to strengthen and promote ASIL's global membership. The two-day conference will consist of two parallel tracks on Human Rights, International Humanitarian Law, International Criminal Law (Track 1), and International Dispute Resolution and International Economic Law (Track 2).

The Teaching Professor Annual Conference

Teaching has become more demanding in the past few years. The Teaching Professor Conference offers tools, tricks, ideas, and inspiration to address the issues facing college professors today.

69th Annual SALALM Conference (Seminar on the Acquisition of Latin American Library Materials)

“5 K'atuns/100 Years Completed: Calendar Celebrations and Commemorations in Latin America, the Caribbean, Iberia, and their Diasporas.” This international meeting gathers librarians, archivists, scholars, students, book/information professionals, and book dealers interested in collecting, preserving, and providing access to academic library resources in all formats relevant to Latin America, the Caribbean, Iberia, and their diasporic communities.

BIALL Annual Conference (British and Irish Association of Law Librarians)

“Full Steam Ahead: From Industrial to Knowledge Revolution.” Speakers include Masun Khokhar, University Librarian at the University of Leeds, and David Wills, Head of the Squire Law Library at the University of Cambridge.

IALL 42nd Annual Course (International Association of Law Libraries)

“From Vikings to Autonomous Ships: Past, Present and Future Law in a Norwegian and International Perspective.” Presented by the Law Library, University of Oslo Library. This edition of the IALL annual course will take you on a journey through 1,000 years, from the Vikings and their legal system and how it developed into the legal system we have today. The pre-conference workshop is CELL and the Library—Experiential Legal Learning, Digital Skills and Librarianship. Speakers include Professor Gentian Zyberi of the Norwegian Center for Human Rights at the University of Oslo, and Professor Ánde Somby of the University of Tromsø.

Canadian Association of Law Libraries (CALL/ACBD) 2024

“Languages of Law.” Bilingual conference with topics including large-language models and artificial intelligence, accessible law, decolonization, interactions between common law and civil law, and how libraries are grappling with new language laws. Programs include Coexistence and Mutual Influences of Common Law and Civil Law: What is Really Going on and What are the Impacts on Legal Research?; Translating the Language of Law: Bringing Legal Information Beyond Law Libraries; and Openness, Inclusivity and Accessibility in Legal Writing and Citation Guides.

ACRL RBMS (Rare Books and Manuscripts Section of the ACRL)

“Momentum.” Presentations include International Co-Instruction: A Collaborative Model Between Special Collections and Subject Librarians; Archives and Special Collections Reference Desks and Reading Rooms: Exploring Possible Futures; and Weird Archives: Finding the Unexpected in Archival Library Collections.

ALA Annual Conference & Exhibition (American Library Association)

As the world's largest library event, the ALA Annual Conference & Exhibition brings together thousands of librarians and library staff, educators, authors, publishers, friends of libraries, trustees, special guests, and exhibitors. Featured speakers include Taraji P. Henson, Ali Velshi, and Max Greenfield.

LIBER 2024

International Library Leaders Program

An intensive week-long program for mid-career library and archive professionals. The program offers the opportunity for an intimate group of international library professionals to meet the British Library's experts and learn from their experiences of dealing with issues facing libraries today. The program includes a unique opportunity to visit the library's high-density storage buildings in Boston Spa in Yorkshire.

CILIP Conference 2024

The UK's leading event for the library, information, and knowledge community. The program will explore “top of mind” issues for leaders at all levels, with a particular focus on intellectual freedom and its associated themes of freedom of expression, censorship, and information rights and will explore the sector's response to the UN Sustainability Goals.

SLA 2024 Conference & Expo (Special Libraries Association)

The 2024 Annual Conference & Expo will be celebrating 115 years of SLA, which is planning an extraordinary event that offers opportunities to connect with special librarians and information, data research, and knowledge professionals from the academic, corporate, government, scientific, and non-profit sectors. Programs include Learning the Art of Library Collaboration: Case Studies from the Field; Fostering Innovation through Collaboration: Asian Special Libraries Unite; and Teaching Students Conducting Competitive Intelligence Research.

2024 LWI Biennial Conference (Legal Writing Institute)

“The Best is Yet to Come.” Programs include Engaging with Research; Making Research Fun; Using a Team-Based, in-Class Research Competition to Assess and Hone Skills; and “You Better Think” Like a Professional—Getting Students to Think Independently, Act Professionally, and See the Pervasive Role Both Play in Performing Effective Legal Research, Writing, and Analysis.
