25. In 1945, Josip Broz Tito became Prime Minister and Minister of Defense in a Yugoslav coalition government, in implementation of the agreement reached at Yalta in February 1945. From that time without interruption he was head of the Federal Government until his election as President of the Republic in 1953. On May 16, 1974, the Assembly of the SFRY elected him President of the Republic for an unlimited term of office. Likewise, he is President of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia, and as such, in addition to his position as President of the Presidency of the SFRY, is also a member of the Presidency, as President of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia, by operation of law.
