This year we publish Volume 25 of Hypatia, a landmark anniversary! In fact, depending on how you count, Hypatia is coming up to its 30th birthday rather than just passing its 25th; Hypatia first appeared as three special issues of Women's Studies International Forum, beginning in 1983. There is a great deal to celebrate; the foundations laid for Hypatia in the 1970s and 1980s have proven to be sound and have fostered the many thriving lines of thinking that make up contemporary feminist philosophy. Our challenge is to build on this legacy, mindful that there is much yet to be done. We can think of no better way to open this volume than with this first of two special FEAST issues edited by Associate Editor Diana Meyers. We will be closing this volume with a special 25th Anniversary issue that is currently in the works, and will revisit some of the history of Hypatia's founding in that context. Throughout the year we will be reflecting on Hypatia's past and imagining her future with special features to our Wiley-Blackwell website and our University of Washington website:

You will see that we have also redesigned the journal cover to mark this important milestone. When Hypatia was just a twinkle in the eye of a collective of feminist philosophy pioneers there was discussion about using the design of Hypatia's plate from Judy Chicago's The Dinner Party as an emblem of the journal. So far as we know that never happened. To honor that initial idea we asked Wiley-Blackwell's designer, Steven Rachwal, to create a cover that evoked the vibrant spirit of Chicago's design.

Happy Birthday Hypatia!
