Cosmic rays with energy around and in excess of 1020 eV have been detected. Despite the uncertainties associated with the difficult measurements of extremely low fluxes (about a particle per square kilometer per century) the same existence of such high energy cosmic rays raises important questions that deserve an appropriate answer. I briefly summarize here what are these questions and how to look for the answers.
