Complementation tests have been performed on a group of closely linked genes affecting the formation of the central pair of microtubules in the flagella of Chlamydomonas reinhardii. The procedure adopted involved the selective isolation of diploid strains in which the mutant genes were recessive to then wild-type alleles. The mutations tested were found to be in the same cistron.
