1 Department of State Press Release 97, July 4, 1990. The Group of 24 [G-24] comprises the 24 countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. At the July 1989 Paris economic summit meeting, the leaders agreed on the need to coordinate Western assistance to support political and economic reform in Poland and Hungary. The European Community Commission, which was asked to coordinate the process, has convened a series of meetings of the 24 countries.
