Evolutionary Human Sciences invites proposals for guest-edited Special Collections, bringing together contributions dedicated to a specific theme.
Guest Editors should complete a proposal form in the first instance, detailing the title, description of the proposed topic, publication timeline, potential authors and invited articles, and a brief bibliography.
Each Proposal will be assessed by the Editor-in-Chief – for fit, timeliness, originality, and relevance.
Upon acceptance of a Special Collection, we offer Guest Editor(s) the option to draw up a ‘Call for Papers’ (CFP). Call for Papers in progress are advertised through the Evolutionary Human Sciences website. We also suggest that Guest Editor(s) send out initial invitations and receive confirmation from a number of interested authors before we open the call for papers. We can help with providing example invitation letters.
All articles submitted to a Special Collection will be subject to the rigorous peer review process operated by the journal. Guest Editors will recommend a decision, with all final decisions being made by the Editor-in-Chief. The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to reject any paper regardless of the Guest Editor’s recommendation, and has full oversight and approval of the peer review process from submission to final decision
Articles appear online as soon as they are ready for publication, and are grouped into a collection online when the majority/all have published.
Guest Editors and authors have the freedom to select the article formats best suited to their paper. More details on the available article types can be found here.
Special collections can publish with an Editorial written by the Guest Editor(s) – this decision rests with the Guest Editor(s).
