Educational objectives

Abuse of alcohol and other substances is a very common problem of schizophrenic patients. Schizophrenic patients consumes alcohol and other substances to reduce stress, anxiety, boredom, emptiness.

Purpose

To determine the prevalence of drug abuse in hospitalized schizophrenic patients.

Methods

This retrospective study included hospitalized patients in Special Hospital for Psychiatric Disease “G.Toponica” the twelve-month period, the diagnosis categories F20 by MKB-10 classification. Data were obtained from medical records and based on special structured questionnaire.

Results

The data will be presented on the poster.

Conclusions

Frequency of consumptions psychoactive substance in schizophrenic patients is high, and consumption of alcohol between is much higher then other substance.
