This is a case of neuroleptic malignant syndrome, although NMS is one of the rarest and the most serious of the neroleptic induced movement disorder and with the advent of atypical antipsychotics the incidence has dropped dramatically with the most recent data suggesting an incidence of 0.01%–0.02% (American Journal of Psychiatry 2007, strawn et al) but cases still exist, with the use of atypical antipsychotics, patients might not present a full blown clinical picture but still meets all the criteria for NMS.
