P03-48 - What Can Improve the Quality of Life of Schizophrenic Patients?

Goal of contemporary psychiatric treatment is improvement of the quality of life of the mentally ill. Being that quality of life is of special importance for the process and final result of the mental condition, it is very important to identify factors that are responsible for the improvement of the QOL of the patients. In this study, according to ICD X criteria, 30 paranoid schizophrenia patients on hospital treatment, and the same number of paranoid schizophrenia outpatients were asked to name “what can improve their QOL”. Hospitalized patients at the first place informed their needful for release from hospital, the second needful for money, the third needful for woman. The second group of outpatients have needing for money, woman, and want to be employment. The results of this study indicate that living in hospital environment significantly lessen QOL of schizophrenia patients. There is no doubt that for improvement QOL of schizophrenia patients is very important their own opinion about that.
