This presentation in the workshop “Coercion in psychiatric services in different European countries” is a brief summary of the requested issues concerning coercion in psychiatric services in Finland. The aim is to provide national data for discussion of various involuntary practices and laws in four European countries. The subjects are: the changes in legislation within the last decade, involuntary admission procedures, involuntary outpatient treatment, use of involuntary medication, seclusion, restraint and other containment measures, changes in clinical practice, and expected developments
