In this contribution some recent reactions and consequences following ECHR judgments will be discussed.
First of all, there was the case ‘Brand against the Dutch state’, concerning the TBS passers-term. The consequence of the ECHR judgment in this case was that some parts of prisons were designated to TBS wards.
Next, partly due to the ECHR, psychiatric penitentiary centres (PPC's) were developed in the prison system.
Finally, the ECHR judgment about the German ‘Sicherungsverwahrung’ has it importance with regard to Dutch long-stay facilities in the TBS system.
