Búsqueda de sensaciones, alcoholismo y actividad de la dopamina

Resumen

Se determinaron puntuaciones de la Escala de Búsqueda de Sensaciones (SSS) en 15 hombres dependientes de alcohol con historia familiar positiva de alcoholismo (HFP), en 15 hombres dependientes de alcohol con historia familiar negativa de alcoholismo (HFN) y en 15 controles varones sanos emparejados (CONTR). Tanto los sujetos con HFP como con HFN padecían dependencia de alcohol prolongada que cumplía los criterios diagnósticos de la CIE- 10 y el DSM III-R. La actividad de la dopamina se evaluó neuroendocrinológicamente midiendo la cantidad de hormona de crecimiento liberada después de estimulación con el agonista del receptor de dopamina apomorfina. Las comparaciones planeadas dentro de un ANOVA de un factor dieron niveles significativamente elevados de susceptibilidad al aburrimiento (SAB) tanto en sujetos con HFP como con HFN frente a CONTRs. Las puntuaciones totales en la SSS, aunque se aproximaban a la significación estadística, eran elevadas sólo en los sujetos con HFP. Se calcularon correlaciones parciales (controlando edad, peso corporal, ingesta de alcohol y duración de la dependencia) para examinar la relación entre la SSS y la actividad de la dopamina. Entre los subrasgos de la SSS, la SAB reveló la correlación más alta en cada grupo. Sin embargo, la relación entre SAB y actividad de la dopamina sólo alcanzó significación estadística en los CONTRs.
