Abstract

The observational properties of the relativistic jets of AGN arereviewed together with their implications for our understanding ofthe jets, from the subparsec scales probed by the highest-frequencyground VLBI observations and space VLBI observations at centimeterwavelengths to the kiloparsec scales observed with connected-elementinterferometers such as the Very Large Array. Special attention ispaid to the information gleaned from polarization observations, with the focus on the most recent new observational informationavailable and how it may affect our view of AGN jets.
