The words ‘or animal’ in the summary preceding the word ‘contact’ (page 501) and the words ‘or domestic pets’ from the first sentence in the section ‘Reported bat bites, contacts and rabies’ on page 504 should be omitted. The data base included only human contacts with bats and any reference to domestic animal contact is incorrect. The authors regret this oversight.
