Mill's Criterion of Wrong Conduct
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 05 May 2010
Extract
There are two related problems in the interpretation of Mill's ethics which become pressing once one has surmounted the more common misunderstandings and seen the over-all shape of his theory. One problem is to state his criterion of moral wrongness; the other is to show how he thinks this criterion derivable with the help ofthe Principle of Utility.
