Although “primitive” is still used with respect to art, literature, and other cultural as well as survival activities, it is not a term used with dance except under the broad heading “Arts, Primitive,” which is used to refer to all of the arts, visual as well as performance (LCSH, 11th ed.). Perhaps this too will change some day.
