page 265 note 1 Pseud, iv. 7, 73 cannot be scanned as Luchs scans it (p. 368): for, as Seyffert has shown, nempe always has the first syllable short when followed by a consonant (= nepe).
page 265 note 2 Often confused in MSS. with hem, an entirely different word. In my translation (below) of em as ‘there is’ or ‘there !’ I by no means desire to imply approval of Richter's derivation of the word from ibi, by dropping the i and liquifying the b: Richter compares interim, interibi.
