1 He slips, however, in his interpretation (p. 4) of Polit, 303D; the gold there, τν λεγμενον κρατον χρυσν, is plainly described by a traditional or technical term (λεγμενον) meaning ‘virgin’, not ‘uncommingled’. Several passages show a certain tendency to look so closely at one or two important words that the context is neglected.
