Claudius B., mentioned by Tacitus Ann. 13. 22 (op. cit., pp. 394 ff.). In this he is probably right. With regard to this inscription, however, I must point out that the readings he adopts in his 11. 9–11 (= my 13–15) are ‘pre-Hofftnann’ and based on inaccurate information.
