page 58 note 1 We should perhaps emend the first couplet thus: ἠν⋯δɛ μητρυιοῖσιν(adj.) (MS. and ), taking σιδἠρῳ, i.e. Σιδηρώ and μητ⋯ρα as incorporated glosses. We must have a verb, or its equivalent, if we do not presume a lacuna. See further Bursian's Jahresberichte, 1920, pp. 192–3.
