The awkwardness of this method may be clearly seen on p. 285, where σ⋯μβολα is translated ‘signs or probabilities,’ while on p. 17 ‘signs’ and ‘probabilities’ are contrasted, representing σημεῖα and εἰκ⋯τα respectively.
