Maass are treated in detail by van Groningen too, pp. 342 f., while Gow deals with Wilamowitz's and others' views as well. Wilamowitz, almost alone, did not suggest a religious background for lines 27–32. Van Groningen is in agreement with Wilamowitz on this point. Since all interpretations of 31, except van Groningen's, connected it with the entire passage they need not be discussed further here.
